“We must be willing to let go of the life we planned so as to have the life that is waiting for us.” Joseph Campbell

I spent 10 years of my life recording video diaries as I pursued my dream as a singer/songwriter in NYC. I eventually turned this into a film, “The Dream Diaries” which, some of you have watched the trailer.

I never set out to record for that long. But something beautiful unfolded each time I recorded a new confession… I was finding my True voice. I was expressing my frustrations, & disappointments & feelings of insecurity in a vulnerable and raw way that allowed me to process those emotions with integrity. I didn’t feel judged or try to hide or shrink in any way because the only other person in the room was my video camera.

I often wonder who I’d be if I didn’t start it. If I believed that ego-voice in my head which told me no one would ever watch it. If I just began for one year and then stopped because my big dream of getting a record deal didn’t pan out.

But here’s what they won’t tell you. “Failure” is never a reason to stop. Failure is just neutral information that offers a fork in the road for us to choose what’s next. Failure or heartbreak of any kind is meant to be the catalyst to our greatest expansion. To push us towards the limitations of what we believe is possible and to breakthrough our perceptions of who we (think) we are. It changes you forever in the best way possible… if you allow it.

I never stopped because this project was way bigger than getting a record deal. It was the beginning of my spiritual awakening that led me to do the work I do today. We often give to others the very thing we needed in our healing journey.

The plans you set out for yourself are so small in comparison to the infinite possibilities your Soul/Higher Self has for you. Once you learn to dance with the Universe and surrender your need to know how it will pan out… life becomes miraculous! And that’s when you look back and say, wow, I could have never known this would be my path/my life.

Let yourself veer off the path. You’re more equip than you know.
